Those who live in the UK have heard of the Vodafone, the O2 and the Orange networks for mobile phones. When the time come for you to be shopping for a new phone, which one will you choose? The people of the UK have been using prepaid phones for a lot longer than those who live in the US, as the contract phone is more popular in the US.

Prepaid is gaining in popularity in the US because being tied to one service for two years is just too restrictive. If you are in the UK and shopping for a new phone, you can choose you phone and your service online. The O2 phones from Dialaphone offers UK based customer service and free voicemail with monthly payments. The Orange phone lets you have a magic number that you can call unlimited times and also offers 2 for 1 Pizza Express.

Maybe the Vodaphone network offers benefits that you can make use of. This network is one of the most reliable and trusted in the UK and covers 99.7% of the UK population. Of course the choice is yours at to which one you pick and all you need to do is decide which networks works best with your needs.

When choosing a mobile phone there are many things to consider. What you will primarily use the phone for is one thing to consider. Will it be used as an extension of the office or will it be used mainly for communication and fun. There are many different models on the market and they all have different variety of functions.

Another thing to consider is whether or not to take out a contract or pay-as-you-go payment plan. Each has its merits and these must be taken into consideration. Contracts are convenient as they allow you to pay for your call time after you have used it. Always having call time available means that you won’t ever risk not being able to make a call as you have run out of minutes. Contracts minutes are always cheaper too as you receive a discount for pre-buying them. The downside to a contract is that even if you don’t use your inclusive minutes you still get billed or them.

Pay-as-you-go plans are convenient for some as anyone can just buy a sim card and start to use it. You can top the card up at many locations such newsagents, phone shops and now even ATM machines. The downside to a pay-as-you-go plan is that the minute are more expensive and that once you have used all of your calltime you are effectively without a phone until you top up.
